Whistleblower hotline and advisory services

Giving you guidance in the areas that matter most

Some of the most significant incidents of corporate malfeasance in Australia and around the world have come to light through disclosures made within an organisation to someone who can do something about it, or externally to the media or a regulator when nothing is being done by the organisation.

At PKF Australia we want to provide guidance when it comes to misconduct, because there shouldn’t be any shame around getting support where you need it most.

Many individuals are often reluctant to report serious misconduct, with some of the main reasons for this being:

  • Fear of retaliation, e.g. harassment, being sidelined or loss of employment
  • Feeling of futility, i.e. the belief that even if an issue is disclosed, nothing will be done about it.

A strong ethical culture in an organisation also increases the likelihood of employees making disclosures about serious misconduct.

This was highlighted in a University of Michigan study which found that employees are more likely to report serious misconduct if they believe their colleagues and supervisors/managers have a high level of ethicality.

Giving key stakeholders such as employees and suppliers a voice is just a part of good corporate governance. And there is significant evidence to show that third-party whistleblower reporting mechanisms are more often used due to their independence.
