Simply Cups: our commitment to environmental sustainability

PKF Sydney & Newcastle is committed to environmentally sustainable practices. We have joined forces with recycling initiative Simply Cups Australia, to address the challenge of single-use coffee cup waste in the office environment. Between both offices, over 15,000 paper cups have now been saved from landfill, a number that will continue to rise.

Since 2017, Simply Cups has been at the forefront of single-use cup recycling, saving over 34 million cups which is enough to fill 685 tram loads full of landfill. This approach involves collecting the cups and utilising cutting-edge technologies to transform them into upcycled products such as outdoor furniture, traffic solutions, and road resurfacing materials.

We have had a long and demonstrated history of our commitment to a more sustainable future, promoting sustainability practices in the workplace and community. The installation of collection tubes within staff kitchens provided a simple yet effective solution enabling team members to conveniently dispose of their single-use coffee cups in designated recycling bins.

The partnership between PKF and Simply Cups has not only contributed to a cleaner environment and upcycled products but has also raised awareness among our employees about the importance of sustainable practices and the environmental impacts of our decisions. Practical initiatives serve as a constant reminder of the firm's commitment and dedication to reducing waste, a goal we have stood by through our actions and commitment to a better, more sustainable world.

Our partnership with Simply Cups has resulted in the teams’ single-use coffee cups being repurposed into garden beds, sustainable building material, reusable coffee cups and reusable drink trays, to name a few!
