PKF Sydney and Newcastle’s Journey: A Legacy of Growth, Innovation, and Community Commitment
Our rich history in the Hunter is a testament to the evolution from a visionary concept in 1977, under the leadership of Terry Lawler, to a prominent and innovative professional services firm today. The journey began with a commitment to building a solid organisation that would attract both exceptional talent and valuable clients.
In the early years, we embraced a traditional approach, reflecting the norms of the time, with a strong emphasis on work ethic and professionalism. However, what we valued was a unique blend of hard work and a sense of camaraderie, creating an environment where the bottom line was not just about dollars but also about fostering meaningful connections.
The firm's success saw expansions into Maitland in the late '80s and Sydney in the mid-'90s, marking geographical milestones. The emphasis on being an innovative firm with a diverse range of services became increasingly evident as we responded to the evolving needs of our expanding client base.
The transition into the 2000s saw PKF Lawler expanding nationally and internationally, with a merger in 2006 and subsequent rebranding as PKF in 2013. This strategic move not only reinforced our commitment to staying at the forefront of industry standards but also provided clients with the benefit of a national and international network.
Our evolution has been marked by a dedication to fundamental values. The culture emphasises a client-centric approach, avoiding growth for its sake and focusing on meeting clients' needs organically. This approach has ensured a steady and balanced growth, creating a firm that not only thrives but also remains true to its core values.
A significant milestone in our journey is the integration of technology and creating a forward-thinking mindset. We valued a willingness to embrace change, foster innovation, and invest heavily in people which has resulted in a firm that continually evolves to meet the challenges of the modern business landscape.
Our commitment to community and social responsibility is evident in initiatives like the Breast Care Breakfast, a tribute to the late Christine Tolcher. This event highlights the firm’s dedication to making a positive impact beyond business.
As we look towards the future, our focus remains on supporting clients and employees, fostering a culture of inclusion, and staying true to the values that have shaped our history. With a team dedicated to innovation, a client-centric approach, and an unwavering commitment to its roots, we are excited for a future that reflects our continuous journey of growth, excellence, and community impact.
