What are the changes to the Eligibility Criteria?

The eligibility criteria for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have been revised to better reflect the characteristics of successful exporters.

The key changes happening are:

1. Minimum annual business turnover requirements per grant tier.

These are:

  • Tier 1 – more than $100,000 per year
  • Tier 2 – more than $150,000 per year
  • Tier 3 – more than $1 million per year

2. Marketing and promotional expenditure:

  • SMEs must show the capacity to spend at least $20,000 on marketing and promotional activities per financial year. This expenditure must be exclusive and funded by the applicant’s own resources and cannot include any government grant money.
