Due to continuing business growth, the PKF Tax team in Sydney has a new opportunity for a Manager or Senior Manager ideally wanting to pursue an interesting and challenging career in Corporate and International Tax.

Key responsibilities

  • You will be working on complex domestic, corporate and international tax matters and look after a broad range of clients (including foreign inbound multinationals, Australian public companies, large private groups and high net worth individuals).
  • You will deliver complex tax advice in relation to corporate tax (including corporate restructures, acquisitions and divestments, tax losses, tax consolidation, CGT, debt/equity), international tax (e.g. international tax structuring, permanent establishment advice, residency advice, controlled foreign company rules, thin capitalisation etc), assist with tax due diligence field work (on purchaser or vendor side), as well as ATO audits (e.g. Top 1,000).
  • You will also get exposure to other areas of tax, including for example transfer pricing, country by country reporting, fringe benefits tax, GST and payroll tax.
  • The work is about 50% advisory / 50% compliance (depending on the time of the year). However, the tax compliance element would be on our bigger clients and during the compliance season.
  • You will be involved in conducting and documenting tax research, analysing and interpreting tax legislation and drafting complex tax advice.
  • You will be responsible for the delivery of multiple client engagements, liaising and building relationships with clients and assisting with engagement letters and proposals.
  • You will also be involved in mentoring upcoming talent through coaching and on the job training.

What you need to apply

Key skills, attributes and competencies required for this role include:

  • Minimum 4-5 years Corporate Tax experience in Australia with a top tier accounting firm
  • Prior experience at a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting services firm preferred
  • Prior exposure to tax advisory and tax compliance experience
  • Ability to do tax research, apply legal reasoning and draft advice
  • Strong collaborative skills, a dedicated work ethic and excellent communication skills
  • CA/CPA qualified (or studying towards it) or has experience of accounting concepts
  • Strong desire to grow and develop both as a person and in your career.
