Professional experience
Ken is a Partner and joint head of Audit & Assurance at PKF where he also Chairs PKF’s national Integrity business.
Ken provides both external and internal audit services across multiple industries, both in the public and private sectors. His interests are in challenging and enhancing the thinking, strategies and actions around risk and governance, particularly in the Education, Healthcare and Innovation sectors and how these will drive growth and prosperity across Victoria and Australia more broadly.
With over 30 years of professional experience in the UK, US and Australia, including time in commerce and financial roles in industry, Ken focuses on ‘the Right Information, of the Right Quantity, of the Right Quality and at the Right Time’ in informing corporate decision-making and financial reporting outcomes.
Ken has a detailed understanding of the fundamentals of financial reporting, which is supported by a sound appreciation of risk management and internal audit frameworks. This is demonstrated in the MBA he holds, in which he focused on Corporate Governance, Board Performance and Director Induction matters.
Ken leverages a number of external roles to ensure his delivery, approach and insights are relevant to the contemporary challenges facing organisations today. These outside roles include serving as Chair of East Grampians Health Service and as a Director and Audit Committee Chair of Housing First Ltd and the Governance Institute of Australia. Ken is also an Adjunct Professor (Department of Accounting) at Monash University and a member of the Sustainability Panel of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
Ken has recently worked with clients such as Telstra, Australia Post, the ABC and Cricket Australia as well as a number of mid market and large corporations across a range of assurance engagements.
Recent examples of Ken's work include:
• Successfully transitioning a number of external audit assignments in recent years
• Performing a range of non-assurance engagements for large, complex groups within the ASX 100
• Acting as independent auditor reporting to the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission on compliance with enforceable undertakings
• Development of risk management framework and corporate governance review
• Internal audit projects and review of internal audit functions
• Board evaluation and effectiveness review.
