Professional experience
David has almost 20 years of investigation, fraud, corruption and misconduct-related experience. Prior to joining PKF, David worked at leading professional services firms and also has a background as a Detective in the Metropolitan Police Service, London.
His extensive experience covers financial and non-financial investigations, integrity due diligence reviews and whistle-blowing incident management and reporting. David also provides advice on how to improve internal control environments and delivers a range of education programs on fraud, corruption, misconduct and investigation skills.
Recent examples of work include:
- Conducting a serious misconduct investigation into a CEO of a large local council, including allegations of corruption, workplace bullying and sexual harassment. Allegations were substantiated and CEO parted from the company
- Post-incident cyber investigation exercise following a large mining company losing approximately half a million dollars in company funds
- Data analytics review of large not-for-profit across their payment framework. The purpose of review was to uncover potential fraud, and errors, and provide business improvement opportunities. The review led to the development of a continuous monitoring program and a number of key strategic findings
- Redesigned and implemented a whistle-blower framework for an organisation, including policy redesign, changes in roles and responsibilities of key personnel and recommendations in relation to key systems improvements. Designed and built a new whistleblower and complaints management solution with an IT partner. As a result of this innovative approach, PKF became a market disrupter in the field of whistleblower management and experienced significant national growth.
